MNEMOSYNE

Mnemosyne (Grieks: Mνημοσύνη) was in de Griekse mythologie een Titanide en de personificatie en het geheugen.
Volgens de oude Grieken vond zij de woorden en taal uit.
Volgens Hesiodus kregen koningen en dichters hun uitzonderlijke spraakvermogen van Mnemosyne en hun speciale relatie met haar dochters, de muzen.

Mnemosyne is volgens sommige bronnen ook de naam van een rivier in Hades.
Doden die van haar wateren dronken zouden hun leven niet vergeten (zoals bij de rivier Lethe het geval was) maar onthouden.
